Stadium: Trans World Dome (St Louis, MO)
In 1991, their were five finalist for pro football expansion: Carolina (Charlotte), Jacksonville, Baltimore Bombers, Memphis Hound Dogs, and St. Louis Stallions. The Stallions' ownership group was so confident that a team would be coming to St. Louis that a stadium was already under construction. When the Stallions were not chosen, the new stadium attracted the Patriots who planned to move and take the Stallions name in 1994. Robert Kraft took over the team at the last minute and kept the Patriots in New England. Eventually the Rams moved from California and took the stadium, but not the Stallions name when they moved to St. Louis in 1995.
