Team Info
Years Active: Bees 1962-87, (Known as Missions from 1977-1982)
Stadium: San Jose Municipal Stadium
Titles: 1962, 1967, 1979
The San Jose Bees began as an independent minor league team and remained so throughout their history other than a brief stint when the team was renamed the Missions. Due to their independence the team was able to sign players from Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan, which other teams in the league were unable to do. In the mid 80's the Bees acquired 5 former MLB players who had struggled with addiction and had been blackballed from the league. This mix of former stars and NPB players brought the team national attention in the late 80's before the team was sold.
